Sharing the memories

because-blog

So it started with an idea, this 10 year celebration of mine, and grew into an extraordinary experience for all who attended! As the guests arrived at Aroma Restaurant, they were greeted with flutes of sparkling wine. We gathered together in the Wine Room, and the laughter flowed as much as the wine did that day!

With my closest friends, colleagues, business associates, and my mom surrounding me, I fully relaxed and settled in to the celebrations. Stories were told, speeches were given, and we indulged in a lovely meal of soup, salad with fruit and grilled chicken, and chocolate strawberry mousse and special coffees for dessert! The feelings of comraderie were palpable in the room that day. Many of my friends know one another, so it was a real treat for each of them to share this special time together.

After our sumptuous meal, I gathered my papers together and stood up to give my Thank You speech. You see, this whole event was for them – the people that gathered around me that day were the ones who had made it all possible and this was my opportunity to give back to them. I thanked each of them individually, explaining exactly what I loved most about them, and how grateful I was to them for everything that they had done for me. And the last person I thanked, the one who has been there for me at every turn, was my mom.

Mom cried as I presented her with 39 beautiful long-stem roses (one to symbolize each year of my life), and I explained just how much I loved her and was grateful to her for everything she has done to help me to achieve all that I have in this life. It was such a treat to be able to surprise her in this way, and honour her in front of my friends and colleagues.

It’s been two weeks now since the celebration and still my house is filled with the scent of flowers (I was given several gorgeous bouquets that day), and at every turn, people are still talking about the luncheon! I will not forget a single moment…it was a milestone in and of itself! So ask yourself, “what can I do to celebrate this day, this year, this moment?” Life is good. Celebrate. You deserve it!

Sharing the Love

Ten years, folks. It has been ten years since I graduated from the Toronto School of Homeopathic Medicine and hung out my shingle as a homeopath. Ten years! And what an incredible ten years it has been. Today, I am writing to you to say THANK YOU…for I could not have done this without you!

Thank you for trusting me with your health care. I know how difficult it has been for some of you and I cannot thank you enough for taking the leap of faith required to try something “different.”

Thank you for sharing with me the secrets of your hearts…for telling me things that you have told no other. Truly there is no greater honour than to be the keeper of your stories.

Thank you for blessing me with the privilege of caring for your babies, your children, your aunts, uncles, grandparents, friends, colleagues, and all of your loved ones. Your faith in me and the medicine fills my soul with joy.

Thank you for your patience while I healed from my car accident and rested after my babies were born. Thank you for understanding that the physicians first job is to “heal thyself.”

Thank you for your letters, cards, notes, gifts, and emails of thanks. I have saved each and every one.

And above all else, thank you for being YOU. Both in and out of my consulting room, you have shown me each and every day just how brilliant and beautiful people really are. Your faith and resilience, your courage and your strength, your ability to seek the truth within you has inspired me each and every day of these ten years. Without you, I would not be here today. I would have given up long ago! But in witnessing what you have done, how you have healed, how you have flourished despite all odds, well, you have made me the person that I am today and for that, I am eternally grateful.

With love in my heart, I remain your grateful homeopath,

Rebecca
